Privacy Policy
This policy explains what localdevicefix.com collects, why we collect it and who sees it. The site belongs to the Mr Fix stores operated by MR FIX DMV REPAIR (the Gaithersburg, MD and Washington, DC stores) and MR FIX DMV (the Falls Church, VA and Burke, VA stores). Each company is responsible for the requests, calls and texts of its own stores (“Mr Fix,” “we,” “us”). It covers this website, the requests you send through it, and your calls, texts and visits with our stores.
What we collect
- What you send us. Your first and last name, phone number, the store you choose, your device and model, the problem you describe, the price the site showed you, and any photos you choose to attach.
- What your browser sends. IP address, browser and device type, the page that led you here, the pages you open, and the ad or campaign details in the link you followed, such as a Google Ads click identifier, the general area Google reports for the click, and campaign tags.
- Calls and texts. When you call or text a store, our phone provider keeps the number, the time and length of the call, and the texts. Calls may be recorded and transcribed where the law allows, so we have an accurate record of what you asked for.
- Your location, only if you ask. If you tap “Use my location” and allow it, your device uses it to find the store nearest to you. The location stays on your device and is not sent to us.
We never ask for government ID numbers, health information or bank details through this site. Please do not send them.
How we use it
- to answer your request, give you a price and book your visit;
- to service your device and tell you when it is ready;
- to keep records of the work, payments and warranty;
- to run and protect this site and stop spam and abuse;
- to see which of our ads bring requests and calls;
- to meet our legal, tax and accounting duties.
We use your information only for what is reasonably needed for these purposes.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share only what each party needs:
- Service providers who work for us: website hosting, our customer management system, phone, text message and email providers, and payment processors. They may use it only to provide their service to us.
- Google, to measure our ads, as described below.
- Authorities, when the law requires it, and others when needed to enforce our terms or to protect the rights, property or safety of Mr Fix, our customers or others.
- A buyer or successor, if the business or a store is sold or reorganized.
Cookies, local storage and ad measurement
This site uses the Google Ads tag. When you arrive from a Google ad, Google may keep the ad click in a cookie on this site and may show a Google forwarding number in place of a store’s number, so it can count calls from the ad; Google then tells us the time and length of the call and the caller’s area code. When you send a request, the site tells Google that a request was sent. Your phone number is hashed on your device before it reaches Google, which uses it only to match the request to the ad click.
The site also keeps a few things in your browser’s local storage, on your device: the store you picked, the light or dark look, the last price you got (for 7 days), and how you found us (up to 90 days), so a request you send on a later visit is still matched to the ad or link that brought you.
You can clear cookies and local storage in your browser settings at any time, and you can limit personalized ads in your Google account’s ad settings.
Text messages
When you check the optional box for texts on our request form, text a store first, or ask a store to text you, you agree that the Mr Fix store you chose, through the company that operates it, may text you from that store’s number about that request and your device: your quote, your visit, the status of the work and when your device is ready. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to stop texts and HELP for help, or tell us any other reasonable way. Agreeing to texts is optional and not a condition of any purchase; without it we call you instead. We send marketing texts only to people who separately agree to receive them.
We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. The sharing described in this policy excludes text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
If you give us your email address, we use it for your request and your service. We send promotional email only where the law allows; every such email has an unsubscribe link, and we honor opt outs promptly.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it or give you a copy. Depending on where you live, you may also be able to opt out of targeted advertising. Email support@localdevicefix.com or ask at a store. We confirm the request comes from you and answer within 45 days. Some records, such as sales and tax records, we must keep by law, and we will tell you when that is the case. If we decline a request, you can appeal by replying to our answer, and we will respond in writing within 60 days.
How long we keep it
We keep requests, photos and customer records only as long as we need them for the purposes above and for our legal, accounting and warranty records, then delete or de-identify them. Photos you attach are saved under random names and can be opened only through the link sent to the store.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
This site and our services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your device and the data on it
Back up first. You are responsible for backing up everything on your device before you leave it with us. Any work on a device, and the device’s own condition, can lead to the loss of some or all of its data.
Passcodes. Most screen, battery and charging port jobs do not need your passcode. When a job does need it to test the device or finish the work, we tell you why first and use the maker’s service mode where the device has one.
Your files stay yours. We open only what the work needs. We do not browse, copy or keep your photos, messages, files or accounts, and we do not use anything on your device for marketing. Anything we see on a device stays confidential and is disclosed only where the law requires it, including content the law requires us to report.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The new version will be posted here with a new date, and important changes will be clearly marked.
